Typically, all positions will begin being paid at the beginning of pay range listed above

Summer Adventure Camp season is typically early June through the end of August, with staff training in late May and early June.

Camp Leaders will need to pass DFS background checks along with taking additional childcare training classes before working with camp children.

Incumbents are responsible for supervising children in activities that are part of an after-school or summer Recreation Division program.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Receives direction from higher-level recreation supervisory and management staff.

Typical Class Essential Duties

1. Provides close supervision of all children participating in structured recreation program to ensure their safety and compliance with policies.

2. Plans, organizes, and leads a variety of age-appropriate programs and activities.

3. Resolves differences that may arise during play and activities; reports incidents as required.

4. Communicates with supervisor and/or parents regularly to provide basic updates; answers general questions about recreation programs.

5. Maintains appropriate records associated with the program.

6. Reacts and responds to emergency situations as trained; calls emergency services or supervisor(s) for assistance as needed.

7. Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules, and general information about the facility or event.

8. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.

9. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training, Experience & Certifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
•No previous training or experience required.
•Must be at least 15 years of age.

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
•Possession of current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications. If no current certifications, completion of the City's internal certification program for First Aid and CPR will be required within 1 month of hire.

Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the position's driving requirements. If the employee has not held a Wyoming driver's license for the last three years, the employee must provide at their own initiation and expense a driving record from their previous state(s) of residence.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
City of Casper employees that perform safety-sensitive tasks are subject to pre-employment and/or random drug testing. These tasks include, but may not be limited to:
•Emergency response/rescue
•Handling or working with hazardous materials, including chemicals as well as solid and liquid waste
•Operating or maintaining water and wastewater systems
•Maintaining City computer and data systems including networks, servers, communication systems, etc.
•Driving for the City of Casper, whether essential or non-essential
•Operating power-driven machinery or equipment
•Handling confidential information, including personnel, health, financial, or attorney-client information
•Working with or around children

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Incumbent is subject to perform duties either indoors or outdoors, which may include extreme climate/weather conditions (warm humid indoors/unpredictable weather outdoors) and ongoing exposure to sun and pool chemicals such as chlorine. The nature of duties involves constant mental and visual attention. Incumbents in this position will be in situations where they may experience critical/traumatic events and need to have the ability to quickly move between workspaces.

MINOR LABOR RESTRICTIONS

•Maximum hours of work on a school day: 3 hours
•Maximum hours of work during a school week: 18 hours
•Maximum hours of work on a non-school day: 8 hours
•Maximum hours of work during a non-school week: 40 hours
•Work hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm
•Extended to 9:00pm from June 1st through Labor Day
•NO operating power driven equipment at all, on public roads or on City grounds
•Includes all power driven tools such as trimmers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, etc.
•Includes all cars, trucks, ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc.
•Cannot drive any vehicle (including personal) for work purposes - i.e. errands or changing work locations
•Cannot utlize any type of oven to reheat or cook food
•Cannot function as a slide monitor at the top of elevated water slides

16 Years
•Maximum hours of work on a school day and non-school day: 8 hours
•Maximum hours of work during a school week and non-school week: 40 hours
•Work hours: 5:00am to 10:00pm on a school night
•Extended to 12:00am on non-school nights
•NO driving on public roadways, even with a valid drivers license
•Cannot drive any vehicle (including personal) for work purposes - i.e. errands or changing work locations
•May operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds ONLY (may not go on public roadways)
•Must meet WARM driving criteria in order to operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds
•May operate weed eaters, leaf blowers, and the like, but no other power driven equipment or tools

17 Years
•Maximum hours of work on a school day and non-school day: 8 hours
•Maximum hours of work during a school week and non-school week: 40 hours
•Work hours: 5:00am to 10:00pm on a school night
•Extended to 12:00am on non-school nights
•May operate weed eaters, leaf blowers, and the like, but no other power driven equipment or tools
•May operate ATVs, golf carts, riding mowers, etc. on City grounds ONLY (may not go on public roadways)

•Cannot have more than three (3) passengers
•Cannot drive more than 33% of the scheduled workday or 20% of scheduled workweek
•Cannot operate a vehicle over 6,000 pounds
•Cannot tow vehicles OR trailers
•Must meet strict driving eligibility criteria in order to drive on public roadways:
•Must have a valid Wyoming Drivers License
•Cannot have ANY prior moving violations
•Must have taken AND passed a driver's education course
