About the opportunity:

SWCA Environmental Consultants’ Durango or Albuquerque office is actively seeking to fill an entry-level Staff Environmental Planner position. This position is a career growth opportunity to join SWCA’s expanding environmental planning practice. The role is a permanent, full-time, hourly position. This is a permanent full-time, regular position, reporting to one of SWCA’s Project Managers out of the Albuquerque, NM or Durango, CO office. The preferred applicant would be office-based or hybrid.


SWCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in environmental planning, natural and cultural resource management, and regulatory compliance. What you will accomplish:
  • Support a variety of project types including oil and gas, renewable energies, and other projects.
  • Assist staff with federal and state permitting applications.
  • Communicate directly with staff for pre-field preparations, project desktop analysis, and project status updates.
  • Work as part of a project team to support National Environmental Policy Act document preparation efforts.
  • Work closely with, and be mentored by, industry leading environmental planners and permitters.
  • Adhere to the safety program and look out for the safety of others, promptly communicating and mitigating safety hazards.
Experience and qualifications for success:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, biology, ecology, environmental studies or related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant environmental experience required.
  • Good written, logic, organizational, oral, analytical, and document management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including an ability to work on more than one project at a time.
  • Good organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to office, project sites and meetings.


Preferred or Helpful

  • Ability to gauge project workload and manage priorities.
  • Ability to be flexible and willing to improve on task understanding and efficiencies.
  • Willingness to perform under pressure with schedule constraints.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into increased responsibilities.

An employee in this Albuquerque, NM - based position can expect an hourly wage of $23.50/hour - $30.00/hour. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
